How About Them Apples
Love the taste of Apple Pie, but don't like all the work required in making one? These Apple Pie bars should do the drink for you! Apple Pie on the go - nothing beats it.

Instructions:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a 8x8" baking dish with cooking spray or overlapping parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Whisk together 1 cup flour, rolled oats, ⅓ cup brown sugar, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon in the base of a food processor fitted with a dough blade or a large bowl.
  3. Add in the butter, one tablespoon at a time, either pulsing the butter into the food processor or cut the butter into the dough using a dough cutter until crumbly.
  4. Add in the water and pulse or stir until the dough comes together
  5. Remove ¾ cup of the dough and set aside.
  6. Press the rest of the dough into the prepared pan.
  7. Stir together the chopped apples, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cornstarch, nutmeg and brown sugar until well combined and place in a medium sauce pan over medium heat. Cook until apples are soft and mixture has come together, about 10 minutes. Let cool slightly then pour on the prepared crust
  8. Mix together the remaining dough with chopped pecans and sprinkle on top.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool completely. The bars need to cool completely for the filling to set.
  11. Slice into 12 bars and serve.
Ingredients:
  • flour x 1 cup
  • rolled oats x 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar x 1 cup
  • Brown sugar x 3 tablespoon
  • Butter x 7 tablespoon
  • cold water x 2 tablespoon
  • Apples (chopped and peeled) x 4
  • lemon juice x 1 teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract x 1 teaspoon
  • cornstarch x 1 teaspoon
  • Ground nutmeg x 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pecans (finely chopped) x 1/2 cup
