Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls

Tis the Season...
These Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect combination of our favorite holiday indulgences Apple Pie and Cinnamon Rolls. Put it together and you will have everybody’s favorite treat during this festive season.

Instructions:
  1. In a small bowl, combine together warm water and 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar. Sprinkle 1 package of the yeast over the top and set aside for about 5 minutes.
  2. In the mixing bowl of a stand mixer (with a dough hook attached), add melted unsalted butter, an egg, whole milk, granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix it on a low speed until well combined. Add yeast mixture and mix again.
  3. Slowly add the flour in 2 steps, mix it for a minute or two on a low speed, then turn the speed to medium and continue to mix for about 5-6 minutes until the dough is smooth.
  4. Grease another large bowl with a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Place the dough in the greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and place it in a warm place to rise for 2 hours.
  5. While the dough is rising, make the filling. In a preheated large skillet add 4 tablespoons of butter and granulated sugar, then add apples. Mix it and sauté over medium/high heat until apples are slightly soft and caramelized. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool off.
  6. When the dough has risen and doubled in size, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread over 2 tablespoons of softened butter and sprinkle over the brown sugar and ground cinnamon mixture evenly. Remove the liquid from the caramelized apple mixture and spread it evenly over the sugar.
  7. Roll into a log lengthwise, starting from one end to the other. Using a sharp knife, cut it into 12 even slices and put them side down in a buttered 9×13 baking pan. Cover with plastic wrap and put it in a warm place to rise for 1 hour.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F. When the cinnamon rolls has risen, brush them with 1 tablespoon of melted butter and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While they are baking, mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract in a mixing bowl, and using a fork, mix it together until well combined. Add some milk until you get a slightly runny glaze consistency.
  10. When the Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls are baked, spread the glaze over and enjoy!

  • Granny smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced (Filling) x 4
  • Sugar (Filling) x 1/2 cup
  • Unsalted butter, softened (Filling) x 2 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar (Filling) x 1 cup
  • Ground cinnamon (Filling) x 2 tablespoon
  • Cream cheese, room temperature (Glaze) x 1/3 cup
  • Unsalted butter, room temperature (Glaze) x 1 tablespoon
  • Powdered sugar (Glaze) x 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract x 1/2 teaspoon
  • Warm whole milk x 3 1/2 tablespoon
