Chocolate Devil’s Food Cake

Chocolate Devil’s Food Cake is a dense, rich chocolate cake covered with luscious chocolate ganache. It is a great dessert recipe for any celebration.

  1. [Ganache] In a saucepan, heat up heavy cream until it starts to simmer.
  2. [Ganache] Put chocolate chips and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl, pour the hot cream over and whisk it until smooth consistency. Cover with plastic wrap and put it on the side for two hours to set.
  3. [Chocolate Cake] Preheat the oven to 350°F, grease 3 9-inch cake pans and set aside.
  4. [Chocolate Cake] In a mixing bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, and set aside.
  5. [Chocolate Cake] In a saucepan, mix together brewed coffee and milk, heat it up until it starts to simmer, then set aside.
  6. [Chocolate Cake] In a standing mixer, using a paddle attachment, cream together unsalted butter and granulated sugar for a few minutes until it is light and smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  7. [Chocolate Cake] Add half of the coffee/milk mixture along with half of the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Add the remaining coffee/ milk mixture and dry ingredients and mix it again until smooth consistency.
  8. [Chocolate Cake] Divide the batter between 3 cake pans and bake at 350°F for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. When it is baked, remove the cakes to a wire rack and let it cool completely.
  9. [Chocolate Cake] To assemble the cake, put the first layer on a cake platter and spread over ¼ of the chocolate ganache. Repeat the same with the 2nd layer. Place the 3rd layer on top and spread the remaining ganache on top and on the sides.
  10. [Chocolate Cake] Refrigerate for a couple of ours to set before serving.

  • [Chocolate Cake] Unsalted butter, softened x 1 1/2 cup
  • [Chocolate Cake] Granulated sugar x 2 2/3 cup
  • [Chocolate Cake] Large Eggs x 4
  • [Chocolate Cake] Vanilla extract x 1 teaspoon
