Sugar Cookies
Recipe by Jennifer Weiss
Tis the Season...
Christmas has always been a time of joy and memory making for me. One of my fondest memories from childhood is making sugar cookies with my grandma. There was always laugher and love as we picked out what cutters to use or one of us getting flour on our faces. Baking with my grandma as a child helped spark my love for cooking. Since then I have altered the recipe just a little by adding a hint of peppermint, because what smells more like the Christmas season than peppermint. These cookies are the perfect addition with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl sift 4 cups of flour, set aside for later.
  3. In another bowl beat soften butter until smooth.
  4. Slowly add in the sugar and combine with a mixer.
  5. Add the eggs into the sugar/butter mixture one at a time, then mix in the vanilla/peppermint extracts, baking powder, and salt (optional).
  6. Now you will add in the flour, one cup at a time until the ingredients are combined.
  7. Roll dough into a ball and cover with cling wrap, place in fridge for 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Once out of the fridge, roll out the dough and cut with desired cookie cutters.
  9. Space evenly on a baking sheet, and bake for 6 – 9 minutes.
  10. Take out of the oven and let cool for about 3 minutes, decorate and enjoy!
